“Outside of parents, a coach is probably the single greatest influence in the life of a child.”
Think about what that influence looks like in a hard moment. A child shuts down during a drill. A transition doesn’t go smoothly. A coach notices, adjusts their approach, and helps that child feel ready to try again.
If we expect coaches to guide children through moments like these, we need to give them child development training. Do you disagree?
