Ultimate Warm-Up – 7 Minutes

Mat Chat – 3-minutes (Includes Water Break)
  • Today we are going to work on CRAWLING.
  • Who can tell me what CRAWLING means?

Here are the three CRAWLING tips:

1. Keep your tummy tight. 2. Keep your head low. 3. Keep your body moving.
Skill-Building Drills – 15 Minutes

Danger Ball:

The students will demonstrate CRAWLING in this game by demonstrating their ability to quickly move in their bear crawl position without falling. This will challenge the students physically by requiring them to stay on their arms for an extended time.
  • Teaching SKILLZ: NEUROBICS – Have the student call out the color of the ball as they dodge it.
  • Brain SKILLZ: VISUAL PROCESSING – The student must track the ball and crawl out of the way.

Be the Shark:

Students will work on their CRAWLING by being able to army crawl while keeping their feet in the air and holding a pad with their feet.
  • Teaching SKILLZ: EXTRINSIC MOTIVATION – As the student is crawling, the instructor will hold out their hand for a high five at the end, motivating the student to crawl and get that high five.
  • Brain SKILLZ: DIVIDED ATTENTION – The student must army crawl down the mat, while also squeezing the pad with their feet so it does not fall.
