Description:
In this drill the students will practice their form by concentrating on which moves are correct or incorrect.
Teaching SKILLZ: Extrinsic Motivation
Students are driven to stay sharp and perform well by earning points for their team and avoiding the consequence of extra exercises if the instructor wins.
Brain SKILLZ: Working Memory
Students must actively recall the correct sequence of their form, holding the steps in mind while quickly determining whether the instructor’s move is correct or a trick.
Step 1
Divide your students into several groups based on rank.
Step 2 – Explain the Rules
The instructor will lead you through the form by count.
After each count, the instructor will call out a name and the students will say “yes” if the instructor was correct, or “no” if the instructor tried to trick the class with the wrong move.
If you guessed correct, then the students get a point.
If you guessed incorrect, then the instructor gets a point.
Step 3
Continue until the form is finished.
Step 4
The goal is to earn more points than the instructor. If the instructor earns more points
than the student, then the students must do fifty jumping jacks.
