Description:
In this drill we will work on having good spatial awareness with their kicks by KICKING behind us and using the bottom of the foot.
Teaching SKILLZ:
EXTRINSIC MOTIVATION – If the student kicks hard on the last one, the instructor will fall over.
Brain SKILLZ:
VISUAL PROCESSING – The student must be able to turn their head and look over their shoulder, see the target and do the proper kick.
Step 1
Divide your students into lines
Step 2 – Setting Up the Drill:
For each line have one instructor holding a kicking shield.
Step 3 – Explain the Rules:
The first student in line will turn away from the instructor and drop to hands and knees.
Then look over the right shoulder.
You will then kick 5 times with the right leg trying to hit the pad.
Do your #5 try to knock your instructor over when you kick!
On round 2, use the other leg.
Step 4 – Takeaways:
Look in the same direction you are kicking.
Remember to use the bottom of your foot.
Yell loud when you kick!
Step 5
Continue until each student has 2 turns.
