Description:
In this drill the students will learn how to develop balance while kicking by balancing a cone on their head as they kick the target. This is a great way to teach them how to keep their head up while kicking.
Teaching SKILLZ:
NEUROBICS – While they are kicking, have the students name a color every time they kick to further test their divided attention.
Brain SKILLZ:
DIVIDED ATTENTION – The student must be able to kick, while focusing on keeping the cone on their head as well.
Step 1
Divide your class into lines.
Step 2 – Setting Up the Drill:
Place small cone in front of each line
Step 3 – Explain the Rules:
The first student in line will balance a cone on his/ her head and kick the target three times without dropping the cone. You may need to hold some student’s hand to help them build better balance.
Continue until each student has a turn.
Repeat the drill but let them do as many kicks as they can without dropping the cone or putting their leg down.
