Skill: PATIENCE
Drill: Kick It!
Equipment needed: 1 Pad per Guardian
Instructors needed: Multiple to Monitor
Description: The students will practice having good PATIENCE skills by waiting to see a pad before they can kick it.
Step 1
Have your student and guardians spread out on the mat.
Step 2 – Setting Up the Drill:
The guardian will hold a pad behind his/ her back.
Step 3 – Explain the Rules:
  • When the guardian is ready, he/ she will hold out the pad and the student will kick the pad three times.
Step 4 – Takeaways:
  • Count while the student kicks the pad to help him/ her learn to count.
  • Make sure that the student kicks the pad three times.
  • Give them a second. Don’t expect them to kick the pad as soon as you put it out.
Step 5
  • Continue for as long as you can until time is called (approximately 2-minutes).
