Drill: Videogame Ninja

Instructors needed: 1 per Line
Description: Students will practice COORDINATION by demonstrating their ability to practice moving with proper footwork in the four basic directions forward, backward, left, and right.
Teaching SKILLZ:
TRICKERY – The instructor can say a direction, and then point or move in another direction. This will test their auditory processing and visual processing, as they have to recognize the audio cue as correct and the visual cue as incorrect.
AUDITORY PROCESSING – The student must listen for which direction the instructor calls out, and perform the correct movement in the correct direction. This works on their ability to follow audio cues correctly.
Step 1
Divide your students into lines
Step 2 – Setting Up the Drill:
The students will sit with the instructor.
Step 3 – Explain the Rules:
  • The 1st two students will stand up behind the instructor.
  • The instructor will move with the students and show them how to do the 4 basic movements.
  • After a few rotations the instructor will step away and just say the directions and the students will have to quickly move to that direction.
Step 4 – Takeaways:
  • Listen for the side that is called.
  • Use good technique as you move.
  • Be fast as you move.
Step 5
  • Continue until each person has 2-3 turns.
