Skill: COORDINATION
Drill: Listen Up
Equipment needed: 2 Clapper pads per line
Instructors needed: 1 per line
Description: The students will practice their COORDINATION in this drill by being challenged to do 2 things at one time!
Teaching SKILLZ: Intrinsic Motivation
Instruction: Allow each student to choose their own number of kicks between 1–10. Giving them autonomy boosts motivation and effort, as they feel ownership over their performance.
Brain SKILLZ: Attention Control
Students must stay focused on their chosen number and maintain concentration throughout the sequence of kicks—building sustained attention and mental discipline.
Step 1
Divide your students into even lines.
Step 2 – Explain the Rules:
  • The instructor will call a number between 1-10
  • The first student in line will hold one foot up to touch the clapper pad.
  • Then they will have to jump, switch knees and kick the other pad (jump front kick style)
  • Then continue to switch without falling for the amount of reps the instructor called.
Step 3 – Takeaways
  • Go at your own pace; only go fast if you feel you have great COORDINATION.
  • Don’t forget to chamber your knee up high on each kick.
  • Try your best to yell loud on each kick.
Step 4
  • Continue until each student has 2-3 turns.
