Equipment needed: 5 different colored cones per group
Instructors needed: 1 Per Group
Description: The students will practice their memory by touching colored cones in the order that they are called out while returning to “base” in between each cone touch. This will help them build good intellectual development of their reactive memory.
Teaching SKILLZ: Healthy Competition
Race your partner to see who can touch all the right cones the fastest! Remember, fastest with accuracy wins the point!” This adds motivation through friendly head-to-head competition.
Brain SKILLZ: Speed of Processing
Students must quickly process the sequence of colors and execute the pattern with speed and accuracy, requiring fast decision-making and action.
Step 1
Divide your students into groups and pair each student up with a partner.
Step 2
For each group you will need to set up four different colored cones, spaced apart in a row.
Step 3
Set up the final cone (base), centered with the row, approximately 4 steps away.
Step 4 – Explain the Rules:
You will stand at base.
I will call out two colors and then say: “go.”
You will run and touch the first cone that I call out, touch base, then touch the second cone, and return and touch base. The person that is the fastest gets a point.
We will continue the steps with three colored cones, and then four.
