Skill: Memory
Drill: Super Shuttles
Equipment needed: 4 Shuttle Cones
Instructors needed: 1 per Line
Description: The students will work on their MEMORY by memorizing where the cones are on the floor then racing to pick the cone(s) up and bringing them back.
Teaching SKILLZ:
HEALTHY COMPETITION – The instructor can give the teams silly names, like “hamburgers vs. hotdogs” in order to motivate the students to win as a team and keep the students engaged. The student to sit the strongest first and put the cones in the correct order first gets a point for their team, and the team with the most points at the end wins.
Brain SKILLZ:
SPEED OF PROCESSING – The students, once they hear the instructor say the color order, must turn around and quickly spot which colors are the correct ones to grab, and grab them in the right order. This works on their ability to make the correct choices quickly.
Step 1
Divide your students into lines
Step 2 – Setting Up the Drill:
For each line you will need 4 different colored cones.
Step 3 – Explain the Rules:
  • The students will look at the cones and memorize where they are then turn and face the other direction.
  • The instructor will call out a color and the student must run and return that color to their spot.
  • You can make this harder by calling multiple colors.
Step 4 – Takeaways:
  • Think quickly to remember where the cone is.
  • Don’t forget which color was called while you run.
  • Run back to your spot quickly.
Step 5
  • Continue until each student has 2 turns.
