Drill: In-In-Out-Out-Kick-Kick
Equipment needed: One white belt and kicking target per line
Instructors needed: 1 per Line
Description: The students will practice agility by stepping inside the white belt alternating feet, then stepping outside the white belt alternating feet, and then kicking the target alternating feet.
Teaching SKILLZ:
HEALTHY COMPETITION – The instructor can see which student can complete their turn the fastest.
Brain SKILLZ:
WORKING MEMORY – The student must be able to remember the steps they need to take, and do them in the correct order.
Step 1
Divide your students into lines
Step 2 – Setting Up the Drill:
For each line, lay a white belt on the ground horizontally and then have an instructor hold a kicking target on the inside of the white belt.
Step 3 – Explain the Rules:
  • When I say “go” you will step inside the white belt alternating feet, then step outside the white belt alternating feet, and then kick the target alternating feet.
  • You will do this three times in a row.
  • Your goal is to do the challenge without touching the belt and without making a footwork mistake.
  • On the second turn, have the student start over if they make a mistake.
  • On the third round, make it a contest to see who can do the challenge three times in a row the fastest.
Step 4 – Takeaways:
  • Keep your hands up by your eyes.
  • Try not to look at the bar while you’re moving.
  • Kick fast and strong.
