Description:
The students will practice ROLLING by demonstrating their ability to roll a huge object while having them listen for the instructor’s signal. This will challenge the students physically and mentally by requiring them to quickly stop a fast-moving object.
Teaching SKILLZ:
TRICKERY – The instructor can say words that sound like “go”, like “gopher” or “go-kart”, or words that sound like “stop”, like “pop”, in order to keep the students engaged and enhance their auditory processing.
Brain SKILLZ:
AUDITORY PROCESSING – The students must be able to follow the auditory cue of the instructor saying “go” and “stop” as quickly as they can, without losing control of their pad.
Step 1
Divide your students into lines
Step 2 – Setting Up the Drill:
For each line, have one instructor.
Step 3 – Explain the Rules:
The first student, will stand up and up in front of the sideways bag top.
When the instructor says “GO”, the student will start to roll the bag top toward the instructor.
When the instructor says “STOP”, the student must stop the bag completely where ever they are.
If they fall or lose control of the bag they must restart; the students goal is to make it all the way down to the instructor.
Step 4 – Takeaways:
Eyes on the bag the whole time.
WKeep 2 hands on the bag.
Make sure you’re moving fast.
Step 5
Continue so that each student has at least 2 turns.
