Drill: Ninja Bowl
Equipment needed: One large ball per line
Instructors needed: 1 per Line
Description: The students will play a game of tag by rolling a large ball at their classmates. This will help the students build good hand-eye coordination, spatial awareness, and social skills.
Teaching SKILLZ:
HEALTHY COMPETITION – For every student that a student hits, they will get one point. If the student hits over ten people, then the student is a winner.
VISUAL PROCESSING – The students must be able to roll the ball to hit moving targets. This works on their ability to make sense of what they see and participate in visual activities, as they have to judge how they need to roll the ball in order for it to hit their target.
Step 1
Divide your students into lines
Step 2 – Setting Up the Drill:
For each group you will need to make a ring if you don’t have one built into your mat, and you will also need a large yoga ball. Select one person to be “it” first.
Step 3 – Explain the Rules:
  • You are going to roll the ball at your classmates.
  • You must keep your hands on the ball at all times.
  • Your goal is to try and tag every student before time is up.
  • For the classmates: you must stay in the ring at all times.
Step 4 – Takeaways:
  • Roll a ball as you keep your eyes on your classmates
  • Work on social skillz
Step 5
  • Continue until each student has a turn to be it for 1-minute.
