Punching While Counting
Equipment needed:
Dice and two focus mitts per line
Instructors needed:
One per line
Description:
The students will roll a dice and then execute the same amount of punches as the number on the dice while counting out loud.
Teaching SKILLZ: CHOICES
Allow the students to pick who gets the roll the dice next once they role it, as long as the person they pick has not had a turn yet
Brain SKILLZ: WORKING MEMORY
The student must be able to see the number on the dice, and remember how many punches they have to do while they count.
Step 1
Divide your students into lines with no more than four students per line.
Step 2
Pick one student to begin by rolling a dice.
Step 3 – Explain the Rules:
You will roll the dice.
When the dice lands on a number, you will say that number out loud.
Then, you will begin counting out loud from 1 and punch the focus mitt on each number, all the way up to the number on the dice.
Make sure you keep your hands up as you punch.
Make sure you keep your fists tight.
Make sure you pull your other arm to your side as you punch.
Step 4
Continue until each student has at least two turns.
