Description:
The students will practice PUNCHING by demonstrating their ability to duck under a noodle and return fire with a punch. This will challenge their physical and intellectual stages of development by requiring the students to time the noodle and fire back with a strong punch.
Teaching SKILLZ:
EXTRINSIC MOTIVATION – If the student can duck the noodle every time without getting hit, the instructor will do three pushups.
Brain SKILLZ:
VISUAL PROCESSING – The student must be able to see the noodle coming and duck before it hits them.
Step 1
Divide your students into lines.
Step 2 – Setting Up the Drill:
For each line, you will need an instructor holding the pads for each student.
Step 3 – Explain the Rules:
The 1st student will stand in their guarding stance facing the instructor.
When the instructor swings the noodle at the student’s head, the student must duck the noodle.
Once the noodle is clear the student will stand up straight and punch the instructor’s mitt.
The student will alternate punches for 10 swings then go to the end of their line.
Step 4 – Takeaways:
Keep fists as tight as you can.
Make sure you move your head out of the way.
Hit the target in the middle for the best results.
Step 5
Continue so that each student has at least 2 turns.
