Mat Chat – 3-minutes (Includes Water Break)
  • Today we are going to work on VISION.
  • VISION means to put things in a positive perspective.
  • VISION builds good character, which is an important element of being a Martial Artist.

Here are the three ways that we are going to improve your VISION skills today:

1. Increase your VISION of courage. 2. Increase your VISION of perseverance. 3. Expand your VISION of desire.
Skill-Building Drills – 15 Minutes

Game of Faces:

In this drill we will work on our VISION by learning to associate Names and VISION words through effective communication, teamwork and memorization.
  • Teaching SKILLZ: HEALTHY COMPETITION – The instructor can give the groups team names, like “hamburgers vs. hotdogs”, and explain that whichever team can remember their friends’ names and vision words the best, will be the winner.
  • Brain SKILLZ: WORKING MEMORY – The student must be able to remember the names of the people in their group, as well as their word and definition.

Spell it Out:

Students will practice having good VISION by demonstrating their ability to demonstrate multiple basics on their target while also having to spell out their vision word.
  • Teaching SKILLZ: UP THE REP – The student can start off with their worst technique on the first letter, and work their way up to having their best technique on the last letter.
  • Brain SKILLZ: LONG TERM MEMORY – The student must be able to remember all of their techniques and perform different techniques on the pad while spelling out their word.
Partner Stretches: 5-minutes
  • Kicking stretch

  • Rocking straddle stretch
