Ultimate Warm-Up – 7 Minutes

Mat Chat – 3-minutes (Includes Water Break)
  • Today we are going to work on bear MOMENTUM.
  • MOMENTUM means maximizing force and speed in movement.
  • This is important because you need MOMENTUM to jump high and kick fast.

Here are the three ways that we are going to improve your MOMENTUM skills today:

1. Using MOMENTUM to gain height. 2. Using MOMENTUM to gain speed. 3. Using MOMENTUM to cover distance.
Skill-Building Drills – 15 Minutes

360 Frog Challenge:

Students will work on their MOMENTUM by demonstrating a full 360 jump down the mat. This will work on their physical stage of development by figuring out the amount of power into each jump and utilizing their orientation by knowing where to land.
  • Teaching SKILLZ: HEALTHY COMPETITION – The students will compete to see who can complete the challenge the fastest.
  • Brain SKILLZ: ATTENTION CONTROL – Students must focus on continually as they are jumping & spinning on each dot.

Hit the Bucket:

Students will practice MOMENTUM by demonstrating their ability to quickly hit a pad with a kick and give it enough power to land in a bucket. This will challenge them physically by requiring them to hit a pad with momentum in order to get it to the target spot.
  • Teaching SKILLZ: EXTRINSIC MOTIVATION – The students will try to hit the pad into the bucket on every shot so that the instructor must do jumping jacks.
  • Brain SKILLZ: DIVIDED ATTENTION – The student will practice this skill by hitting the pad with the proper technique and proper power to hit the pad into the bucket.
Partner Stretches: 5-minutes
