Skill: CRAWLING
Drill: Be the Shark
Equipment needed: 1 small square pad per line
Instructors needed: 1 per Line
Description: Students will work on their CRAWLING by being able to army crawl while keeping their feet in the air and holding a pad with their feet.
Teaching SKILLZ:
CHOICES – The instructor can ask what kind of shark they are, and the student can respond with a type of shark, or make up their own type of shark too. This will get the student thinking creatively and motivate them to play the game.
Brain SKILLZ:
DIVIDED ATTENTION – The student must focus on army crawling correctly, while not letting the pad between their feet drop as well.
Step 1
Divide your students into lines.
Step 2 – Setting Up the Drill:
The first ninja will come up in each line and lay on their tummies and put their feet in the air.
Step 3 – Explain the Rules:
  • The instructor will put the small square pad in between the students feet to mimic a shark fin.
  • The student will then have to army crawl down the mat keeping the bad in between their feet down to their instructor.
  • Once they reach their instructor, the instructor will take the pad and the student can run back to their line then it’ll be the next ninjas turn.
Step 4 – Takeaways:
  • Squeeze your legs so that you don’t drop the pad.
  • Use your arms only so you get stronger.
  • Don’t use your legs!
Step 5
  • Continue for 2-3 rounds.
