Description:
The students will practice CRAWLING by demonstrating their ability to and kick in an awkward position. This will challenge the students physically by requiring them to hold their body up and kick hard enough to knock pads over.
Teaching SKILLZ:
HEALTHY COMPETITION – See which team can have the higher belts while doing their crab crawls. The instructor can give the team silly names, like “hamburgers vs. hot dogs” in order to have the students more motivated to win as a team.
Brain SKILLZ:
WORKING MEMORY – The student must be able to crawl down to the pads, while remembering to keep their belt up high as they can while crawling, which works on their ability to hang onto information while performing tasks.
Step 1
Divide your class into lines.
Step 2 – Setting Up the Drill:
For each line, you will need an instructor.
Step 3 – Explain the Rules:
The 1st student go to their crab crawl position and face the pads which are horizontally apart like dominos.
When the instructor says “GO” the students will crawl down to the pads.
When the student reaches the pad, they will kick them and will try to knock down each pad.
If the student knocks down all the pads they win, if not then they go to the end and try again next turn.
Step 4 – Takeaways:
Keep your belly up to get stronger.
Kick the pads hard, so you can knock them all over.
Do your best to not fall.
Step 5
Continue so that each student has at least 2 turns.
