Description:
The students will practice their CRAWLING in this drill by being able to keep their body strong as they army crawl down the mat with a kicking shield on their back.
Teaching SKILLZ: EXTRINSIC MOTIVATION
If the student can make it down the mat without dropping their shield, the instructor will do three pushups.
Brain SKILLZ: DIVIDED ATTENTION
The student must be able to crawl down the mat, while keeping their attention on the kicking shield on their back so they do not drop it, which works on their ability to do more than one thing at one time.
Step 1
Divide your students into lines.
Step 2 – Setting up the Drill:
For each line you will need an instructor watching the technique and 1 kicking shield.
Step 3 – Explain the Rules:
The instructor will put the kicking shield perpendicular across their back.
Then they want to be able to army crawl down the mat without losing the shield.
Make sure they’re not using their knees to help crawl down the mat.
Step 4 – Takeaways:
Keep your stomach strong and stable to balance the pad.
