Drill: Middle Split Battles
Equipment needed: None
Instructors needed: One Instructor Per Line
Description: Students will work on their FLEXIBILITY by having to hold their split longer then their opponent.
Teaching SKILLZ: Healthy Competition
Students challenge each other in a friendly way to see who can hold their split the longest while still keeping good form.
Brain SKILLZ: Working Memory
Students must remember to maintain correct split form and the rule of “stay low” while competing.
Step 1
Divide your students into lines.
Step 2 – Explain the Rules
  • Instructors will call up two students to battle each other.
  • Facing each other students will go into their middle split position and hold it.
  • Fall or come out of your lowest possible split just a little bit then you would be out and the other student will be the winner for that round.
Step 3 – Takeaways
  • Stay strong./strong>
  • Don’t give up no matter how much it may seem like it hurts.
  • Even if you don’t win your round congratulate your opponent.
Step 4
  • Continue until every student has 2-3 turns.
