Drill: Duck the Troll
Equipment needed: 2 small targets, 1 bopper per line
Instructors needed: 1 per line
Description: The students will work on their flexibility by holding a split position to duck the bopper.
Teaching SKILLZ: EXTRINSIC MOTIVATION
If the student gets hit with the noodle, they have three pushups. If the student can successfully dodge the noodle on their turn, then the instructor will have five pushups.
Brain SKILLZ: SPEED OF PROCESSING
The student must be able to hear the instructor say the command, see the noodle come toward them, and quickly make the correct choice on what to do before the noodle hits them.
Step 1
Divide your students into lines.
Step 2
For each line, lay two small targets on the floor with handles/straps upwards.
Step 3 – Explain the Rules
  • The instructor will swing the bopper 3 times: High, Low, High again.
  • You must Duck, Jump, Middle split in that order, to avoid getting hit.
Step 4 – Takeaways
  • Keep your eyes on the target.
  • Keep your feet on the pads the whole time.
  • Go as low as you can in your split.
Step 5
  • Continue until everyone has had 3 turns.
