Power Punches:

Students will work on their CONTROL by learning how to increase the level of effort and power in each punch to make their block fly the farthest.
  • Teaching SKILLZ: HEALTHY COMPETITION – The students must be able to hit the block farther than the other team. The instructor can also give the lines silly team names like “hamburgers vs. hot dogs” to motivate the students to win as a team.
  • Brain SKILLZ: SPEED OF PROCESSING – The student must hear the word “go”, then punch the block as straight as they can further than the other team.

Rock the Boat:

In this drill the students will practice CONTROL by having a deep stance and not falling off the pad when shaken by the instructor.
  • Teaching SKILLZ: TRICKERY – Trick the students by saying words that sound like “go” before they start.
  • Brain SKILLZ: AUDITORY PROCESSING – The students must wait for the word “go” without getting tricked before they can run down and do their stance..
