Drill: Mountain Climber Challenge
Equipment needed: 1 small pad per line
Instructors needed: 1 per Line
Description: The students will practice having good DETERMINATION by demonstrating their ability to push through a difficult challenge even if they get tired. This will challenge them physically by requiring them to moving for an extended period which can be a challenge for the students.
Step 1
Divide your students into lines
Step 2 – Setting Up the Drill:
The instructor will demonstrate how to do mountain climbers with the students.
Step 3 – Explain the Rules:
  • The instructor will then have the student get into push-up position.
  • The instructor will then hold a pad under the student’s chest and say “GO” for the student to start.
  • They must do mountain climbers with knees hitting the pad, if they stop hitting for more than 3 reps they must stop.
  • The goal is to push until they get to 30 seconds.
Step 4 – Takeaways:
  • Make sure that your knees are moving.
  • Breathe so that you don’t run out of energy.
  • Do your best even if you get tired.
Step 5
  • Continue until each student has multiple turns.
