Skill: DETERMINATION
Drill: Running in the Dojo
Equipment needed: None
Instructors needed: 1 per Line
Description: The students will practice having good DETERMINATION by demonstrating their ability to push through a difficult challenge even if they get tired. This will challenge them physically by requiring them to moving for an extended period which can be a challenge for the students.
Step 1
Divide your students into lines
Step 2 – Setting Up the Drill:
 
Step 3 – Explain the Rules:
  • Vines=Squat Tree=Jump Helicopter=Lay on belly
  • Then when the instructor says” GO” the students will start to jog in place.
  • On round 1 the students must try and run for 45 seconds without giving up, as they are running in place the instructor will call out the different commands.
  • They will also demonstrate it with the students as they do it, if the instructors see a student stop for more than 5 seconds they will have them have a seat.
  • The goal is for all the students to finish, on the following rounds you can increase the time if its needed for the students.
Step 4 – Takeaways:
  • Keep moving even if you get tired.
  • Breathe so that you don’t get tired.
  • Listen to your instructor the entire time.
Step 5
  • Continue until each student has multiple turns.
