Drill: Keep it Up
Equipment needed: 1 clapper pad per line
Instructors needed: Multiple to monitor
Description:
Step 1
Divide your students into lines
Step 2 – Setting Up the Drill:
The 1st student from each line will stand up and face the instructor.
Step 3 – Explain the Rules:
  • The student will lift their favorite foot and demonstrate 3 kicks without putting their foot down.
  • If the student passes round 1 then on round 2 they can try 5 kicks without putting their foot down.
  • If there is time for round 3 then if the students could do 5 then they can try 7 kicks on round 3.
  • If the student put their foot down more than 3 times the next person in line gets to go and that person will stay at the amount of kicks in the next round.
Step 4 – Takeaways:
  • Lift your knee up so it’s easy to kick
  • Keep your bottom posting foot strong.
  • Keep your head up for the best balance.
Step 5
  • Continue until each student has 2 turns.
