Description:
The students will practice their SPEED by being the first to demonstrate martial arts moves and combinations.
Teaching SKILLZ:
EXTRINSIC MOTIVATION – If the student does the incorrect move, then the student will have five pushups.
Brain SKILLZ:
SPEED OF PROCESSING – The student must be able to hear the instructor call out a move, and do the move the fastest in order to stay in the game. This works on their ability to make the correct choices quickly and accurately.
Step 1
Divide your students into even lines
Step 2 – Setting Up the Drill:
Step 3 – Explain the Rules:
The 1st person in each line will stand on the 1st spot dot in their line.
The instructor will call a technique or combination. The last person to correctly demonstrate it must have a seat. Everyone else advances to the next spot dot and gets ready for the instructor to call the next technique.
The last person in is the winner.
Step 4 – Takeaways:
Don’t look at the other students for the answer – try to demonstrate the techniques on your own.
Do your full techniques; finishing first without good form will not get you the point.
Perform with intensity so that you sell your win to the instructors.
