Class 10 – Technique

Active Warm-Up – 7 Minutes
  • Arms: Intermediate push-ups
  • Legs: Squats touching the ground
  • Abs: Dish pulling knees in
  • Core: Bridge with kicks
Mat Chat – 3-minutes (Includes Water Break)
  • Today we are going to work on TECHINQUE.
  • TECHNIQUE means to have quality in your movement.

Here are the three areas that you will apply TECHNIQUE to today:

1. Technique in stances. 2. TECHNIQUE in kicking. 3. Foot-eye TECHNIQUE.
Skill-Building Drills – 15 Minutes

Ring Race:

The students will hop down the mat while holding a ring on their foot and then place the ring over a cone without using their hands.
  • Teaching SKILLZ: TRICKERY – The instructor can trick the students by saying words that sound like “go”, like “ghost” or “go-kart” to keep the students engaged and improve their auditory processing.
  • Brain SKILLZ: ATTENTION CONTROL – The student must be able to hop down while focusing on keeping their chamber high, or else the ring will fall.

Role Reversal:

In this drill the students will learn how to correct technique by giving the instructor three pointers on each Martial Arts move they perform.
  • Teaching SKILLZ: UP THE REP – The instructor can challenge the students to correct them without confidence on the first one, and then with medium confidence on the second one, and then as confident as they can on the last one.
  • Brain SKILLZ: VISUAL PROCESSING – The student must be able to call out a move for the instructor to do incorrectly, and then the student must see three errors the instructor made.
Active Stretches: 5-minutes
  • Ankle rotations
  • Clock stretch
  • Forward lunges
  • Lower back sitting stretch
Game – 3-minutes
  • Speed Ball
