Drill: Ultimate Abs Exercise: Shrimps Down the Mat
Equipment needed: None
Instructors needed: Several to monitor
Description: The students will build abdominal strength by sliding down the mat on their backs in reverse using their abdominal muscles.
Step 1
  • Have your students lay on their backs in reverse on one end of the mat with their knees bent, feet flat on the floor.
Step 2 -Explain the rules:
  • When I say, “go” you will slide your body, turning it to one side pushing with your feet and pulling your core with your abdominal muscles as you extend your arms towards your feet.
  • Alternate sides on each slide.
  • You will do this up and down the mat.
Step 3:
  • Continue for two rounds.
  • On the second round, make it a race to see who can make it down the mat and back the fastest.
