Ultimate Warm-Up – 7 Minutes
  • Arms: Beginner army crawls
  • Legs: Frankenstein’s
  • Abs: Swimmers
  • Core: Bear crawls
Mat Chat – 3-minutes (Includes Water Break)
  • Today we are going to work on CRAWLING.
  • Who can tell me what CRAWLING means?

Here are the three CRAWLING tips:

1. Try not to let your bottom touch the ground when crab crawling. 2. Try not to let your knees touch the ground. When bear crawling. 3. Try not to let your elbows touch the ground when bear crawling.
Skill-Building Drills – 15 Minutes

1-2-3 Army Freeze:

The students will play a game of 1-2-3 ninja freeze, but with army crawls. Army crawls are good for building arm muscles, and also for spatial awareness.
  • Teaching SKILLZ: HEALTHY COMPETITION – Make it a competition to see who can touch the instructor first.
  • Brain SKILLZ: AUDITORY PROCESSING – The students will listen for the commands to start and stop crawling.

Bear Crawling Over the Pads:

In this drill the students will practice bear crawling over obstacles. Bear crawling targets the core muscles and at the same time builds hand-eye-coordination along with hand-foot coordination. In this drill, the students are building these skills while bear crawling over objects.
  • Teaching SKILLZ: HEALTHY COMPETITION – Make it a competition to see who can crawl over the pads the fastest.
  • Brain SKILLZ: VISUAL PROCESSING – This student will develop good hand-eye-coordination to not touch the pads.
Partner Stretches: 5-minutes
  • Butterfly stretch
  • Chest stretch
  • Sitting hamstring stretch
  • Straddle stretch
Game – 3-minutes
  • Ninja Freeze
