Equipment needed:
1 wave master top and 1 buzzer per line
Instructors needed:
1 per Line
Description:
Students will practice having good dexterity by being able to hear the move the instructor calls out, run down to the mat, hit the buzzer first, then demonstrate the correct move.
Teaching SKILLZ:
EXTRINSIC MOTIVATION – The instructor can allow the winning team to pick an exercise for the losing team to do. This can motivate the students to win so they can choose an exercise for their friends to do.
Brain SKILLZ:
WORKING MEMORY – The student must listen for the basic that the instructor calls out, and remember that combination as they run down to hit the buzzer. This works on their ability to hold onto information while performing a task.
Step 1
Divide your students into lines
Step 2 – Setting Up the Drill:
The first students in each line will stand up.
Step 3 – Explain the Rules:
They will listen for the basic the instructor calls out. Once the instructor calls out a basic, the students will run down and hit their buzzer.
The first student to hit their buzzer will get to show the move. If they get it correct, they will get a point for their line, if they get it incorrect, they will lose a point for their team.
The team with the most points at the end wins.
Step 4 – Takeaways:
Run fast so that you can earn a point for your team!
