Description:
Students will work on their MOMENTUM by preforming a pop front kick out of a front roll. They have to keep the momentum under control and be accurate with their kicks in this challenge
Teaching SKILLZ: Choices
let students choose whether to kick with their left or right leg after the roll, giving them ownership while still requiring control of momentum.
Brain SKILLZ: Working Memory
students must remember the sequence (roll → pop up → front kick → run back) and execute it smoothly under time pressure.
Step 1
Split the class into lines
Step 2 – Setting Up the Drill
The instructors will have a clapper pad in front of their line
Step 3 – Explain the Rules
The student will start when the instructor says “GO!”
They will preform a front roll and follow it up with a pop front kick on the target
They will continue all the way down the mat
Once the reach the end they will run back and give the next person in line a high five
The first team to get all the way through the line will get a point
Step 4 – Takeaways
Roll quick so you can transition into your pop front kick easier
Jump high so the pad will be easier to hit
Run fast so you can buy your team more time in the race
