Drill: Bouncy Feet
Equipment needed: 2 Rings Per line
Instructors needed: 1 per Line
Description: The students will practice HOPPING by demonstrating their ability to do small rapid hops engaging their quick twitch leg muscles and then a power hop engaging all the main muscles of the legs. This will challenge the students physically by requiring them to continuously hop for the entire drill exercising their leg muscles.
Teaching SKILLZ:
HEALTHY COMPETITION – The instructor can set a challenge to see which ninja can do more jumps on the second round then they did on the first round.
ATTENTION CONTROL – The student must be able to hop for the entire duration, and when the instructor says “jump”, they must jump to the other ring. Doing a repeated task for an extended period of time will improve their focus.
Step 1
Have the students form lines.
Step 2 – Setting Up the Drill:
For each line, you will need an instructor.
Step 3 – Explain the Rules:
  • The 1st student, will stand in the ring on the ground in front of them.
  • They will as many hops as they can in the ring while the instructor counts to 10.
  • When the instructor gets to 10 they will yell “JUMP!” The student must then jump all the way to the 2nd ring.
  • On round 2, move the second ring farther away.
Step 4 – Takeaways:
  • Eyes on the ring.
  • Keep your feet together the whole time.
  • Do your best to not fall out of the ring.
Step 5
  • Continue for at least 2 rounds.
