Drill: Match the Word
Equipment needed: None
Instructors needed: 1 per Line
Description: The students will practice having good LISTENING by demonstrating their ability to being able to listen for the instructor to call out all of the different parts of their front kick, and they must stay with the instructor.
Step 1
Divide your students into lines
Step 2 – Setting Up the Drill:
The 1st student in each line will stand up and face the instructor.
Step 3 – Explain the Rules:
  • The instructor will start by calling out the chamber for the student who should then lift their knee up.
  • The instructor will then call out the next par and the students will then call out the rest of the parts of the kick.
  • The student will follow along as the instructor calls out the parts.
  • The student will do this 3 times then go to the end of the line.
Step 4 – Takeaways:
  • Have your ears on so that you hear every part called.
  • Have good technique as you do each kick.
  • Try your best on every kick even when its tough.
Step 5
  • Continue until each student has multiple turns.
