Skill: Intensity
Drill: Back and Forth
Equipment needed: None
Instructors needed: Several to monitor
Description: In this drill the students will work on their intensity by performing stronger and louder than the line across from them.
Teaching SKILLZ:
HEALTHY COMPETITION – The instructor can give the lines silly team names in order to motivate the students, like “hamburgers vs. hot dogs”. This will motivate the students to play the game with effort in order to score and win for their team.
Brain SKILLZ:
AUDITORY PROCESSING – The students must hear the team that go before them, and judge how loud they are, and determine how loud they will have to be in order to beat them. This works on their ability to analyze what is heard.
Step 1
Line up your students into two even lines.
Step 2 – Setting Up the Drill:
All students will start in a middle stance with a right punch.
Step 3 – Explain the Rules:
  • The one line will punch and yell as loud as possible.
  • The other line will try to punch and yell even louder.
  • The instructors will point to the line that has the most intensity
Step 4 – Takeaways:
  • Continue with a variety of strikes, blocks, and kicks.
Step 5
  • The first line to earn 10 points is the winner.
