Drill: Baseball Breaks
Equipment needed: 1 Board Per Line
Instructors needed: One Instructor Per Line
Description: In this drill students will work on developing better INTENSITY with their body by trying to put their body weight behind their palm strike to that they can break the board in a single shot.
Teaching SKILLZ: EXTRINSIC MOTIVATION
If the student breaks the board three times in a row, then the instructor will have three pushups
Brain SKILLZ: DIVIDED ATTENTION
The students must be able to move their leg and step forward as they hit the board. This works on their ability to do multiple things at one time, as they must be able to use their whole body to break the board instead of just their arm.
Step 1
Line the students up on their dots.
Step 2
The instructor will stand in front of the class and give DISCIPLINE commands.
Step 3 – Explain the Rules
  • When the instructor says “GO,” the students will begin to perform front kicks, alternating their kicking leg.
  • When the instructor says “Attention Position,” the students will yell “Yes Sir/Ma’am” and stand in their Attention Position.
Step 4 – Takeaways
  • Kick Strong even when no one is looking
  • Stand Strong the first time you hear the instructor
  • Be Loud when answering up
Step 5
  • Continue for 2 to 3 minutes.
