Drill: Pad Drop Challenge
Equipment needed: Three small targets per line
Instructors needed: 1 per Line
Description: The students will block targets that are dropped from above. This will help the students build hand-eye-coordination and spatial awareness.
Teaching SKILLZ:
TRICKERY – The instructor can say words that sound like “go”, like “gopher” or “go-kart”, in order to keep the students engaged and enhance their auditory processing.
Brain SKILLZ:
SPEED OF PROCESSING – The student must be able to hear the instructor say “go”, and see when the pad is an appropriate distance away.
Step 1
Divide your students into lines
Step 2 – Setting Up the Drill:
For each line you will need three small square pads and an instructor to drop the pads.
Step 3 – Explain the Rules:
  • You are going to stand with your arms folded.
  • When I say “block,” I am going to drop the pad, and you must block the pad before it hits you in the head.
  • Your goal is to block three targets in a row.
Step 4 – Takeaways:
  • Keep your eyes on the pad.
  • Block over your head.
  • Keep your arm strong.
Step 5
  • Continue until each student has three turns.
