Drill: Domino Blocks
Equipment needed: None
Instructors needed: 1 Per Group
Description: Students will practice BLOCKING by demonstrating their ability to wait their turn to be able to block, as they watch their friends go before them.
Teaching SKILLZ:
HEALTHY COMPETITION – See if the students can do their block stronger and yell louder than the student who went before them.
Brain SKILLZ:
ATTENTION CONTROL – The student must be able to pay attention for the full duration of the drill in order to tell when it is their turn.
Step 1
Divide your students into groups
Step 2 – Setting Up the Drill:
The students will have a seat in a box or circle pattern.
Step 3 – Explain the Rules:
  • The instructor will start the game by doing 1 high block.
  • Then the person on the left of the instructor will do their high block and say hi-yah!
  • Then the student on their left will do a high block, this will continue until every person in the group has had a turn.
  • The students must wait for their turn in order to win the game.
Step 4 – Takeaways:
  • Wait your turn to be able to block.
  • Have the best high blocks you can.
  • Make sure to say hi-yah so your friends know when to go.
Step 5
  • Continue each person has 2-3 turns.
