Equipment needed:
6 cones, 3 bars, one punching pad
Instructors needed:
1 per Line
Description:
The students will build upper body strength by crawling under the bars and then repeatedly blocking.
Teaching SKILLZ:
EXTRINSIC MOTIVATION – If the student touches the bar, or if they get hit with the noodle, they have three jumping jacks.
Brain SKILLZ:
DIVIDED ATTENTION – The student must be able to crawl underneath the bar, while making sure they do not hit the bar at the same time.
Step 1
Divide your students into lines.
Step 2 – Setting Up the Drill:
For each line you will need six cones with bars through the top most hole. Spread these about two feet apart. The instructor will be at the opposite end from the students.
Step 3 – Explain the Rules:
  • You are going to crawl under the first bar, perform 2 blocks.
  • Repeat until you reach the end and perform 2 more blocks.
  • Step 4 – Takeaways:
  • Crawl fast and strong.
  • Block fast.
  • Keep your legs straight.
  • Step 5
  • Continue until each student has three turns.
