The students will practice BLOCKING by demonstrating their ability to High blocks with the correct side. This will challenge them Physically by working there legs as they jump from side to side, and Intellectually by having to remember which side goes to each color.
TRICKERY – The instructor can say a color that is not there in order to keep the students engaged and enhance their auditory processing, as they have to think more about what is being said.
SPEED OF PROCESSING – The student must quickly hear the instructor say a color, jump in the correctly colored ring with two feet, and see the noodle come towards them so they can block it.
Divide your students into lines
Step 2 – Setting Up the Drill:
For each line you will need an instructor in front of 2 rings spaced 1’ apart.
Step 3 – Explain the Rules:
The first student will stand in between the rings. (Go over which arm goes to each ring.)
When the instructor calls out a color the student must hop to that color, say what color it is and then block with the correct arm.
Once they do the block they will hop back in between the rings.
The student wants to try and get 5 blocks without a mistake.
On Round 2 go up to 10 blocks.
Step 4 – Takeaways:
Take big jumps to each side.
Keep your eyes open when you block
Most fast to get to the ring and block
Continue so that each student has at least 2 turns.
