Drill: Criss Cross
Equipment needed: 2 Rings Per line
Instructors needed: 1 per Line
Description: The students will practice having good COGNIZANCE by demonstrating their ability to use their eyes to see to be able to see the ring and associate the correct hand to the color that is across the lateral plane.
Step 1
Divide your students into lines
Step 2 – Setting Up the Drill:
The 1st student in each line will stand up in front of the instructor.
Step 3 – Explain the Rules:
  • The instructor will go over which hand is right and left, they will also show which ring each hand goes to.
  • When the instructor says “Left” or “Right” the student will use the corresponding hand to strike through the ring.
  • The student will do these 4 times on the instructor’s command.
Step 4 – Takeaways:
  • Keep your eyes on the ring so you don’t hit it.
  • Punch through the ring.
  • Focus on which hand is left and right.
Step 5
  • Continue until each student has 2-3 turns.
