Description:
Students will practice having good TEAMWORK by demonstrating their ability to hold a target for their teammates and be able to call out different commands for them at the same time.
Teaching SKILLZ:
UP THE REP – On the first turn, the students say the commands “green” “yellow” and “red” as quiet as they can. On the second round, they can say it at a normal volume, and on the third round, they can say them as loud as they can.
Brain SKILLZ:
AUDITORY PROCESSING – The student must be able to hear their partner say “green” “yellow” and “red”, and understand which each of these audio cues mean, and responding quickly and appropriately.
Step 1
Divide your students into lines.
Step 2 – Setting Up the Drill:
Have the students sitting with the instructor.
Step 3 – Explain the Rules:
The first 2 people in line will stand up and face each other.
The instructor will hand one of them the kicking shield, the one holding the pad will then call out colors of a traffic light. (Green, Yellow, Red)
The student will have 10-15 seconds to call the colors, green=start punching, yellow=slow down punches, and red=stop punching
The students partner will listen for the colors called and will do the commands their teammate calls out.
