Skill: Teamwork
Drill: Partner Pad Roll
Equipment needed: One wavemaster pad per line
Instructors needed: 1 per Line
Description: The students will work on their teamwork by working together to roll a large pad to the end of the mat and back again. This helps to reinforce positive social skills and team building.
Teaching SKILLZ:
HEALTHY COMPETITION – The instructor can award a point to the team that had the best teamwork and sat down the strongest the quickest. The team with the most points at the end of the game wins.
Brain SKILLZ:
DIVIDED ATTENTION – The student must be able to roll the pad down the mat. While doing this, the student has to pay attention to their partner’s speed as they roll the pad down, and making sure they do not let go of their partner’s hand as well.
Step 1
Divide your students into pairs, and then into lines with their partner.
Step 2 – Setting Up the Drill:
The students will be at one end of the mat holding hands.
Step 3 – Explain the Rules:
  • When you say “go”, the students will have to roll the pad down to the end of the mat without letting go of their partner’s hand.
  • If they do let go, they must both do 3 jumping jacks before they can begin again.
  • The first team to bring the pad back and sit strong is the winner!
Step 4 – Takeaways:
  • Don’t let go of your partner.
  • Push the pad at the same time.
  • Don’t go too fast or too slow.
Step 5
  • Continue until every group has three turns.
