Description:
The students will build their teamwork skills by working together in a fun race. This is a great way for the students to also build good social skills.
Teaching SKILLZ:
CHOICES – The instructor can ask the students to pick a partner in ten seconds. This gives them the chance to work with the people they want to work with, which can motivate them to win with their friend even more. The choice in the activity will also empower the students, as they will feel more in control over what they are doing.
Brain SKILLZ:
AUDITORY PROCESSING – The student must be able to hear the instructor call out the corner number, and run as quickly as they can with their partner to the correct corner. This works on their ability to respond to verbal cues quickly, as they must run to the correct corner in order to stay in the game.
Step 1
Pair your students up with a partner.
Step 2 – Setting Up the Drill:
Place an obstacle in each corner, such as a wave bag cushion, and assign each corner a number.
Step 3 – Explain the Rules:
You will hold your partners hands as you race to the corner that I call out.
The first pair to the corner has the best teamwork.
Your goal is to work together as you race to the corners.
On the second round, label the corners with Martial Arts moves to make it more challenging.
On the third turn, make it a contest by giving the first pair to the corner a point and the first pair to five points is the winner.
