Skill: TEAMWORK
Drill: Lead the Blind
Equipment needed: One blindfold and kicking target per group
Instructors needed: 1 Per Group
Description: One student will lead their partner down the mat while they are blindfolded.
Teaching SKILLZ: TRICKERY
The instructor can say words that sound like “go”, like “ghost” or “gopher”, in order to try and trick the students. This will help the students improve their auditory processing, as they must listen for the whole word and analyze what it means, instead of just listening for the sounds of a word.
Brain SKILLZ: VISUAL PROCESSING
The student leading their partner must see where they need to go, and guide their partner there with their voice. This works on their ability to participate in visual activities and make sense of what they see, as they have to spot the path they need to take and guide their partner to their pad. Their partner is practicing their auditory processing skills as well, as they have to respond to the verbal commands that they are given.
