Skill: OBSERVING
Drill: What was that?
Equipment needed: None
Instructors needed: 1 per Line
Description: The students will practice having good OBSERVING by demonstrating their ability to watch the instructor so that they can identify the basics that the instructor is demonstrating. This will challenge them mentally by requiring them to see moves and connect them with the correct name.
Step 1
Divide your students into lines
Step 2 – Setting Up the Drill:
The 1st student in each line will stand up if front of the instructor.
Step 3 – Explain the Rules:
  • The instructor will demo a 3-move combo for the student but they are not allowed to give the students the names of the moves.
  • The student must watch the instructor and at the end of the combo the student must say the move demonstrated in order.
  • If they can do it then they will earn 1 point for their team.
Step 4 – Takeaways:
  • Watch the instructor as they demonstrate
  • Be as loud as you can to be confident
  • Make eye contact w/ instructor
Step 5
  • Continue until each student has 2-3 turns.
