Drill: Palms or Punches
Equipment needed: None
Instructors needed: 1 per Line
Description: The students will practice having good OBSERVING by swithching between punches and palm strikes as the instructor yells out the changes.
Step 1
Divide your students into lines
Step 2 – Setting Up the Drill:
The 1st student in line will stand up and face the instructor.
Step 3 – Explain the Rules:
  • The instructor will start by doing punches at a moderate pace.
  • Randomly the instructor will switch to palm strikes the student must see that and yell out palm strikes.
  • The instructor will switch between the palms and the punches 3 times before the student goes to the end of the line.
Step 4 – Takeaways:
  • Eyes on the instructor to see what they do
  • Look for the little details
  • Don’t be upset if you miss one of the switches
Step 5
  • Continue until each student has multiple turns.
