Skill: DURABILITY
Drill: Stack Up
Equipment needed: 2-3 kicking shields per line
Instructors needed: 1 per Line
Description: The students will practice having good DURABILITY by demonstrating their ability to stay strong in a plank position even when they are put under a little more weight than they are used to. This will challenge the students physically by requiring them to engage their core strength more than usual.
Step 1
Divide your students into lines
Step 2 – Setting Up the Drill:
The 1st person in each line will get into their plank position on their forearms and toes.
Step 3 – Explain the Rules:
  • The instructor will make sure that their back is straight and then they will put the 1st pad on the students back.
  • They will hold the pad there for 5-10 seconds and then the instructor will add the next pad.
  • This process will continue until the instructor runs out of shields or the student drops the shields.
Step 4 – Takeaways:
  • Keep your back as flat as possible
  • Try to be frozen in the position
  • Keep trying and don’t give up.
Step 5
  • Continue until each student has multiple turns.
