Skill: Technique
Drill: Chamber Ninja
Equipment needed: 1 clapper pad per line
Instructors needed: 1 per Line
Description: Students will practice having good TECHNIQUE by demonstrating their ability to lay down on their back and work the chamber position and extension of their front kicks.
Teaching SKILLZ:
UP THE REP – The instructor can explain to the students to go slow motion on their first kick, and slowly get faster until their last kick, where they do the fastest and strongest kick they can. This will help the students get better with every rep, and finish on their best rep.
Brain SKILLZ:
VISUAL PROCESSING – The student must be able to see where the pad is, and position their knee appropriately in order to kick the pad. This works on their ability to complete visual activities, as if they do not chamber their knee properly, they will miss the pad.
Step 1
Divide your students into lines
Step 2 – Setting Up the Drill:
Have the students sitting with the instructor.
Step 3 – Explain the Rules:
  • The 1st student in line will lay down on their back, they will start by lifting one of their knees up to their chest.
  • When the instructor counts the student will aim to front kick the pad that is being held over them.
  • The goal is for the students to work the chamber of the front kick on each rep, if they don’t chamber they may miss the pad.
  • Once the student has done 5 kicks they may go to the end of the line.
Step 4 – Takeaways:
  • Chamber on each and every kick.
  • Keep your eyes open on each kick.
  • Move as fast as you can.
