Description:
In this drill the students will build technique in their board breaking skills. The students will compete in a fun game of cat and mouse while breaking boards. This drill will help the students build aim and intensity in their strikes.
Teaching SKILLZ:
HEALTHY COMPETITION – The winner of the first round can be crowned the champion of the game. On the next rough, if another student can tag the champion, then they become the new champion until they get tagged, and so on.
Brain SKILLZ:
SPEED OF PROCESSING – The students must be able to break the boards and run to the next one quickly in order to not get tagged by the person behind them. This works on their ability to complete a task quickly and accurately, as if they miss a board or do not run as fast, then they might get tagged by the person behind them.
Step 1
Divide your class into lines of four.
Step 2 – Setting Up the Drill:
Set up squares for each group and have one instructor in each corner of the square holding a board. Assign the instructors in order of first, second, third, and fourth.
Step 3 – Explain the Rules:
The first person in line will run to the first instructor and break the board as quickly as possible, then race to the second and so forth through all four boards.
Once the first student breaks the first board then the second student will go, and so forth for all four students in line.
The goal is for the next student in line to break the board faster than the person in front of them so that they can tag them. If so, they are the winner.
Step 4 – Takeaways:
Work on breaking quickly to chase the person in front of you
Improve breaking techniques
Step 5
Continue until each student has a turn to be first in line.
